Willy Snypes

June 13, 2018

It was so fun to photograph rap artist Willy SnYpeS for the cover of the summer issue of Airdrielife magazine. Willy has a great look and is a natural in front of the camera!

I've really been enjoying incorporating some textured backdrops into my studio work and this was a new one I hadn't used yet!  The textured backdrops definitely give a different feel from solids!

I shot some of these images from a low angle which is challenging in my small studio (laying on the floor, shooting up).  I have lighting mounted to the ceiling, so it's always a challenge to shoot without seeing the lighting and the edges of the backdrop, especially when shooting from a low angle.  I love choosing angles that are different than what your eye would normally see though!  How many people view you from on the floor?  Or from way above?  When you meet someone, it's always eye to eye, so finding a different view changes the perspective of the photo.

Want to know more about Willy SnYpeS?  Check out the article right here.  He is a rap artist, DJ, has a music label, is a football coach, a dad, and an all around cool guy!
